I am an Associate Professor of Anatomy at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and a specialist in Family Medicine. My passion for anatomy and medical education led me to transition fully into academia in 2021. Since then, I have been leading the Group for Clinical Anatomy at NTNU, where I am responsible for anatomy teaching for medical students at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Additionally, our group oversees the donor registry for central Norway and manages NTNU’s anatomical collection.
Since 2012, I have been teaching anatomy at NTNU, with a strong focus on enhancing and modernizing anatomical education. As the group leader, I have spearheaded efforts for outreach and to integrate traditional dissection with extended reality. This transformation ensures that dissection remains a core element of anatomy education while embracing cutting-edge technology to enhance student learning.
Our Group consists of a dynamic and highly skilled team:
Natalie Field, an internationally award-winning artist whose work bridges science and art, enriching our anatomical education and visualization techniques.
Guus Wellesen, recognized in 2024 as the world’s leading expert in skeletal articulation, bringing an unparalleled level of craftsmanship and anatomical precision to our group.
Alina Sandø, a skilled gastric surgeon and the driving force behind the introduction of soft preservation techniques to Norway.
Under my leadership, our group has established a strong identity and a collaborative, forward-thinking culture. Our efforts were recognized in 2022 when we were awarded first prize for excellence in education for our anatomical collection.
Our mission is to elevate anatomy education at NTNU and collaborate with the best in the world to push the boundaries of anatomical learning. By fostering innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and excellence, our goal is to ensure that anatomy education reaches new heights, benefiting both medical professionals and a broader audience.
