Dr. Gail Elizabeth Elliott, PhD, AFHEA, is a dedicated medical educator specializing in human anatomy. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor (non-tenure/teaching track) at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she plays a vital role in anatomy education and curriculum development.
Dr. Elliott earned her BSc from the University of Dundee, followed by an MSc from the University of Central Lancashire. She later completed her PhD in Human Anatomy at the University of Otago, New Zealand, where her research focused on developmental anatomy and medical education. She has since developed expertise in anatomy instruction, active learning strategies, and student mentorship.
With a strong passion for education, Dr. Elliott has held numerous teaching roles, including faculty positions at Ross University School of Medicine and visiting lectureships at the University of Otago. At Rutgers, she directs and teaches multiple anatomy courses, mentoring graduate and medical students while contributing to faculty development initiatives. She is actively involved in curriculum committees and mentorship programs, fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments.
Dr. Elliott’s research interests include medical education, curriculum design, and student engagement strategies.
