Dr. Izuchukwu A. Okafor is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Translational Anatomy within the Department of Radiology at UMass Chan Medical School, Worcester. With over nine years of experience, he has been actively teaching and mentoring medical and allied health science students in anatomy.
He holds a PhD in Reproductive Biology and a certificate in Embryology and Assisted Reproductive Technology. His research interests span reproductive health, anatomical sciences, and medical education.
Dr. Okafor has served in various academic and leadership roles, including editorial board memberships, committee roles with the American Association for Anatomy (AAA), and participation in international working committees. He has authored over 40 scientific articles and books published in reputable journals and has contributed to conferences, workshops, and symposiums globally.
Beyond academia, he is a certified project manager (PMI, USA) and the co-founder and project manager of the Lifeporté Educational Project, an initiative focused on science engagement, communication, and advocacy. A passionate advocate for open science in Africa, he actively seeks collaborations, partnerships, and initiatives that advance scientific research and education.
